Bio / Statement
Okim Woo is a Korean American artist who engages with academic painting and drawing within realist and/or impressionist styles. She studied at the Art Students League of NY under instructors including Harvey Dinnerstein, Ellen Eagle, Kamilla Talbot, etc. Her favorite mediums to work with are pastel and watercolor, usually on paper. Woo's portraits seek to capture the internal psyche of the subject matter, which is reflected in the gaze, the facial expression, and pose and gesture. Woo's figurative works ultimately concern with mimesis, which is the act and/or process of representing the subject faithfully.
